Indexed universal life is permanent life insurance first. For a career that may pay out over a handful of years rather than thirty, the funding schedule matters more than the crediting rate, and any potential tax-advantaged access later depends on the policy being properly structured, funded and managed. We model early career end, premium interruption, MEC limits, surrender charges and loan mechanics against term insurance, a taxable brokerage account and qualified plans. Not everyone should buy an IUL. Illustrations are models, not guarantees: the non-guaranteed column reflects current assumptions the carrier can change.

Athletes who funded heavily during peak years with a written plan for what happens when the income stops, and others who were better served by term insurance and a taxable brokerage account.
A compressed earning window changes every assumption in an illustration. We model the career ending early, not late. An IUL is life insurance first, and not everyone should buy one.

Because the earning window is compressed. A career that produces most of a lifetime's income in a handful of years creates a planning problem most products are not built for: large surplus cash flow now, decades of spending later, and qualified-plan limits that absorb very little of it. That is a real gap. It does not automatically mean an insurance policy is the answer.
Questions on funding during peak earning years, what happens if premiums stop, surrender charges, policy loans, and how an IUL compares with a brokerage account or a 401(k). If IUL does not fit, we will tell you that too.
Schedule a call to see whether an Indexed Universal Life strategy fits your goals, with the fees, caps, and alternatives laid out plainly.
