Survivorship IUL Review
Evaluate how second-to-die indexed universal life may address shared protection, legacy, estate liquidity, or long-term planning goals for both insureds.
Survivorship, or second-to-die, indexed universal life insurance covers two people and pays a death benefit after the second insured dies. It may support estate liquidity, legacy planning, and family protection when couples have shared goals. Black Swan Insurance Group helps couples evaluate policy design, sustainable funding, alternatives, and long-term risks before deciding whether this strategy fits their financial situation.

Guidance for couples evaluating second-to-die IUL alongside estate, legacy, protection, and broader financial planning goals.
Evaluate how second-to-die indexed universal life may address shared protection, legacy, estate liquidity, or long-term planning goals for both insureds.
Review death benefit options, funding levels, underwriting considerations, MEC limits, crediting assumptions, policy charges, and the importance of keeping coverage in force.
Compare survivorship IUL with term, whole life, guaranteed universal life, variable life, annuities, qualified accounts, Roth strategies, and taxable investing.
A survivorship indexed universal life policy is permanent life insurance first, paying on the second death rather than the first. That makes it an estate-liquidity tool, not income replacement, and any potential tax-advantaged access depends on the policy being properly structured, funded and managed. We check whether the real need is liquidity at the second death or protection at the first, and compare against individual term insurance, an ILIT and a taxable brokerage account. Not everyone should buy an IUL.

Couples who discovered the need was income replacement on the first death, which a survivorship policy does not address at all.
A survivorship policy pays on the second death, which makes it an estate tool rather than an income-replacement tool. We check which one you need. An IUL is life insurance first, and not everyone should buy one.
Coverage and policy discussions are tailored to each couple’s goals, needs, life circumstances, and budget.
Review IUL alongside reasonable alternatives instead of treating one product as the right answer for everyone.

There is no universal starting amount for an indexed universal life policy. Funding is custom based on age, health, underwriting, state, coverage amount, product, policy design, and the financial job the policy is intended to perform. A responsible review also considers sustainable cash flow, MEC limits, existing savings priorities, policy charges, and whether permanent coverage is actually needed.
Questions on why the policy pays on the second death, how underwriting works when one spouse is uninsurable, and when two individual term policies serve better. If IUL does not fit, we will tell you that too.
