IUL Evaluation
Review whether indexed universal life fits your protection, retirement-income, tax-diversification, liquidity, and legacy objectives before considering financing.
Premium-financed IUL can use borrowed funds to help pay life insurance premiums, but leverage introduces interest costs, collateral demands, policy-performance risk, and potential tax consequences. This guide explains how the strategy works, who may qualify, what can go wrong, and why careful underwriting, conservative stress testing, sustainable funding, and comparison with alternatives matter before making a long-term commitment.

Review whether indexed universal life fits your protection, retirement-income, tax-diversification, liquidity, and legacy objectives before considering financing.
Examine borrowed-premium structures, interest costs, collateral requirements, policy assumptions, and the consequences of changing rates or policy performance.
Assess whether premiums and financing obligations can remain manageable alongside reserves, existing savings, tax-advantaged accounts, and other financial priorities.
Compare death-benefit options, funding levels, underwriting class, MEC limits, crediting terms, policy charges, and loan-management considerations.
Compare premium-financed IUL with whole life, term insurance, variable and guaranteed universal life, annuities, retirement accounts, and taxable investing.
Revisit policy performance, funding, charges, loan balances, crediting assumptions, and in-force strength as circumstances and policy conditions change.
Premium-financed indexed universal life is permanent life insurance first, wrapped in a commercial loan. It layers interest-rate risk, collateral requirements and lender terms on top of the ordinary policy risks, and any potential tax-advantaged access still depends on the policy being properly structured, funded and managed. We stress-test rising rates, collateral calls and the exit against a smaller unfinanced policy and term insurance. This suits very few people, and not everyone should buy an IUL. Illustrations are models, not guarantees: the non-guaranteed column reflects current assumptions the carrier can change.

Prospects who modelled rising loan rates and a collateral call, and concluded that a smaller unfinanced policy was the sounder decision.
Premium financing adds a lender, an interest rate and a collateral call to a policy that already carries risk. Most people who are shown it should decline. An IUL is life insurance first, and not everyone should buy one.
We evaluate fit honestly, including when waiting or choosing another strategy may be more responsible.
Understand illustrations, guarantees, charges, financing risks, and policy obligations before making decisions.
Policy recommendations are shaped around your needs, goals, budget, underwriting, and broader financial priorities.
Continued guidance and annual reviews help monitor funding, loans, policy strength, and changing financial circumstances.

Premium-financed life insurance uses borrowed funds to help pay premiums on a life insurance policy. With premium-financed IUL, the policy remains permanent indexed universal life insurance, while the financing arrangement introduces borrowing costs, collateral requirements, repayment obligations, and lender terms. The strategy is not automatically profitable or suitable; results depend on policy performance, interest costs, design, funding, loan management, and keeping the policy in force.
Questions on what happens if loan rates rise, what triggers a collateral call, how the arrangement unwinds, and why a smaller unfinanced policy often wins. If IUL does not fit, we will tell you that too.
